Surcharge Appeals Due to Toyota Recall

As of March 2010, the Massachusetts Merit Rating Board will now accept a written request to reconsider a previously lost appeal if the accident was due to a stuck gas pedal on a car that is involved in the Toyota recall. In January 2010, for policyholders who have a previous surcharge that was due to an accident that was related to the Toyota gas pedal recall, the Massachusetts Merit Rating Board agreed to accept “late surcharge hearing” requests by calling the Merit Rating Board at 617-351-4400. It is up to the policyholder to make the inquiry.
